Project Update: A Change of Direction

Since the last update, the site has shifted shape. What started as a marketplace is now a directory and a marketplace. The build is finished, the help section is done, and Growerslink is ready for what comes next.

Why the change

The original plan was a marketplace where growers and suppliers paid to list and sell. That works once you have a crowd. It doesn’t work when you’re starting from zero. Asking a small grower or a local hydro store to pay before anyone was looking at the site was the wrong way around.

So we pivoted. Growerslink is now a directory first. Any business in the horticulture industry — growers, nurseries, hydro stores, suppliers — can have a free account on the Essential plan. That gets them a profile on the map, a listing in the directory, and one free classified per month. No card, no trial, no catch.

The paid plans are still there for businesses that want a full storefront and unlimited classifieds, but the door is now open to everyone.

Where we are

We’ve been adding real horticulture businesses to the directory, and the directory is now live. Owners can claim their listing when they’re ready. That’s the base we’re building the next phase on.

What’s next

Next month the marketing campaign starts — Google and Facebook ads, plus direct emails to growers and suppliers. The directory is populated, the free tier is live, and there’s a real reason for people to visit the site — to find a grower or a supplier near them. That’s the bridge to the marketplace.

The bottom line

The build is done and the direction is clearer than it was a month ago. Free account, directory listing, map pin, one classified a month. That’s the offer. The campaign starts next month.
